Review:
Inspiron 1720 is strategically targetted at school and college goers. Needless to say it had to be strong and stout to be competing in the target that it is in.
A Dell Inspiron 1720 sports a clean and simple look.
Oh! did I say you why it seems so attractive to the common man in me.
You have plenty of customization options with this laptop. Right out of the gate you have eight different colors to choose from for your laptop. YOu may choose accessories like mouse, in simillar color as your laptop for that chic looking combination.
The 1920 X 1200 resolution WUXGA screen on Dell Inspiron 1720 works like charm. You will not find any noticeable problem like dead pixels or backlight bleeding with the screen.
Its fun to have this screen with sharp picture quality and a wide array of viewing angles. A range of backlight adjustments make working convenient, whatever be the lighting in the
workplace. You will find it equally comfortable in a dim lit room as well as a brightly lit area.
Speaker is just not the discerning parameter for buying a laptop with all the current models available in the market. Taken the generic average quality of the best of laptop speakers, the audio system in Dell Inspiron 1720 does a fairly good job. Its loud and the sound is distortion free
at higher volumes. Thats the most you should expect from laptop spekers these days.
The structure of the keyboard and the touchpad is in line with the overall structure of the notebook. In a Dell Inspiron 1720, the keyboard is well built and you will rarely experience any flex in it. The keyboard does not feel cramped for space. The keys have nice travel and push back. Pressing them makes a little sound but then thats nothing much noticeable. The keys are placed in standard position. Touchpad in this laptop is stout and spacious for comfortable navigation. Matte finish adds to the beauty of the touchpad in Inspiron 1720. The response of the touchpad seems to be on the slower side, otherwise its all positives for the input devices in this system.
Dell Inspiron 1720 is up to the task when it comes to testing it by performance measures. It performs well for the average user's need. You may use it for multimedia and gaming
purpose without much problem.
Heat sinking capability in this laptop is pretty well developed. Intensive gaming raises the temperature of the base of the laptop upto 42 degrees. It cools off very quickly
when you leave it on its own.
The fan in Dell Inspiron 1720 does not make any serious noise except in some cases when its tested with some rigorous gaming schedules. It will never be an embarassment for you
during normal usage in schools and colleges.
You will find an assortment of ports in 1720 that I am sure you will not have much to complain about. One port that I miss in this laptop is the HDMI output port for high definition video output.
Battery life associated with Inspiron 1720 is near what you would need under normal usage. A standard 9-Cell battery powers up the laptop for about three and a quarter hours before
seeping into hibernation.
Thus Dell Inspiron 1720 is a good laptop if you wish to have good value for money and a brand name to pep it up.
