Dell XPS Laptop

Looking for a portable computer? Try the Dell XPS Laptop.

When looking for a personal computer, the personal laptop is becoming a more popular choice with each passing year. Laptop computers provide the freedom to be on the go while still being connected.

The recent boom in Wi-Fi hotspots has only helped increase the desire for students and professionals to take their personal computers away from their desk and with them on the go. One great laptop to consider is the Dell XPS laptop.

The XPS line of laptops from Dell start at just 3.97lbs and under $800. They offer up to a 16 inch screen and come standard with Windows Vista but have an optional downgrade to XP for those who prefer the older operating system.

The screens on the Dell XPS laptop line are all widescreen and hi-def to give a fantastic viewing experience when using the laptop for movies, gaming or streaming video.

So, with all the laptop options available, why choose the Dell XPS laptop? Is it the right laptop for you? The best way to answer these questions is by taking a more in-depth look at what’s inside. After all, while they are sharp and easy on the eyes, beauty is only skin deep.

The bottom line XPS, the M1330, has a meager asking price of $799 on Dell’s website which makes it very affordable for students and small business owners.

While there are laptops at similar prices, the Dell XPS laptop, at its least expensive price, comes with an Intel Core 2 Duo processor. It also comes with standard 3 gigabytes of shared Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM and is upgradeable all the way to 8 gigabytes.

It features a standard integrated graphics card with the option of 128 MB of dedicated graphics memory via the NVIDIA GeForce Go 8400M GS and a hard drive capacity large enough to store everything a student or business person could want.

The best part is that, with all the optional upgrades, the XPS laptop can be customized to fit anyone though at its starting price it’s geared more toward the student/small business owner market.

The differing lines of the XPS start with the M1330, the next step up being the M1530. Both laptops feature a built-in wireless G mini card, but the key difference is going to screen size.

The M1330 comes with a 13.3 inch display while the M1530 comes with a 15.4 inch display. This, for some, is enough to justify the one hundred dollar increase in price. The big price jump comes when switching from the M1 lines to the Studio lines. In the XPS Studio line, there are two screen sizes, a 13.3 inch and a 16 inch; as with the M1 line, there is a $100 price difference between the two starting prices.

The Studio line has more starting memory before upgrading, larger hard drives, the power of NVIDIA video cards to give the Studio line enough processing power to sate even a hard core gamer. All of these extra features come with a $200 increase in price over the M1530. It is obvious that when Dell created the XPS line, they wanted to create a line of laptops that could suit the student, the small business owner, the photo addict, and even the gamer and with the Dell XPS laptop they have truly succeeded.

The XPS line can be affordable for those on a tight budget and upgraded to suit the needs of even the most powerful of dungeon crawlers.
