Lenovo T61
The new Lenovo t61 is a perfect blend of enhanced mobility and high quality performance.
It features ultra light design structure as well as boasting long battery life (it reaches almost 3 hours for normal usage). It’s about an inch thin and weighs around 5 pounds.
This Thinkpad gives you flexibility in the way you connect which gives it the added laurel of breakthrough performance of all time! Ok, well maybe that was a little over the top, but you really can’t deny how good this new model is. Read on, if you want more.
I focus on the 14.1 inch widescreen model for the sake of this article.
The new Lenovo t61 Thinkpad looks and almost feels like its T-series notebook predecessors.
The body’s casing is made of rugged inflexible plastic, and inside it is a magnesium roll cage in the main chassis and the lid,(which means, there’s magnesium inside the plastic). Astounding isn’t it? Apparently, the engineers of this t61 used this kind of design to allow for better radio-wave transmission when connecting to the internet or other wireless stuff you can think of.
The keyboard happens to have a new upgrade too. It’s become spill proof, as they say. For example, if you accidentally spilled your coffee on the keyboard, the liquid doesn’t penetrate the laptop, but rather there are two drain holes that channel away the coffee and out through the bottom. Splendid, no more Starbucks nightmares!
The design for the input and out-put ports has changed slightly, since there’s now a slot for card readers (optional, you can choose other media cards) as well as standard Firewire support. Also, the USB ports have now been vertically aligned.
The screen display on the Lenovo t61 is particularly crisp and there seems to be no issues with grainy particles. The matte finishing is absolutely wonderful when you realize that it helps reduce glare. The screen could be a little brighter though, but this could be a Vista problem since you can usually adjust it when using Windows XP.
The speakers are placed on the side of the keyboard, taken advantage by the engineers due to the widescreen format of this t61 model. Although the sound has basically lower volume threshold, you can opt to plug in the headphone for greater sound quality since it is now placed right up front.
The Lenovo t61 is very much superior to its predecessors in terms of processing power. It uses an Intel Centrino Duo platform with a cache of 4mb and an Intel X3100 (high performance integrated graphics solution). It includes a 100GB hard-disk with 2GB of memory to help people who opt to go for Windows Vista, although one can still choose to stay loyal to XP with this model.
The Thinkpad series has certainly been good to its users, and this new model certainly brings quality performance to an already well-praised brand. With highly-convenient features chipping in to give the series a boost, the t61 may bring other designs to shame.
It boasts a full-sized keyboard as well as a pointing stick(alternative to the touchpad) that makes the Lenovo t61 a good and reliable choice for any notebook user.
